Chimera showing ConSurf results

The ConSurf Server now provides results as Chimera Web data; after browser configuration, a single click displays the color-coded query structure and multiple sequence alignment with phylogenetic tree and custom headers in a locally installed copy of Chimera.

Details for those who want them...

The ConSurf Server generates the following, each specified by URL in the Chimera Web data file (example pdb1rtt_isd.chimerax):

• PDB file of query with ConSurf values written in the B-factor column (example isd_pdb1rtt_view_ConSurf.pdb); although Chimera can color by B-factor, in this case a sequence coloring file is used instead
• Multiple sequence alignment of query and homologs (example pdb1rtt.aln)
• Tree to go with the alignment (example TheTree.txt)
• Chimera custom header file, information to be shown above the sequences (example pdb1rtt_isd.hdr)
• Chimera sequence coloring file, also colors the structure to match (example pdb1rtt_isd.scf)
